I need help! My chicken got attacked by a raccoon and had her eye injured. She’s been isolated to the house. The eye turned white and I started using Terramycin ointment and tiagard. It’s been about 5 days of treatment and She’s been improving. Eating and drinking and even got some limited time outside. I got really hopefully. Today she passed a tiny lash egg. What do I do now?! Is this a lost cause?

The lash egg which is a sign of salpingitis (inflammation of the oviduct.) It is probably just coincidental that she passed the lash egg. Do you have any pictures of the chicken’s eye and the lash material? Tiagard is used for mycoplasma. Does she have any discharge from the eye? I would continue the eye ointment for a week or so. Sorry about the attack. Most chickens can get along fairly with only one eye. They are a little more susceptible to predators or getting lost or picked on. Many of us have dealt with a half blind chicken. I hope that she get’s along okay.

I don’t have pictures of the lash egg. It was hard, cream/pinkish colored and lumpy. The first eye picture was before I started treating and the second is after a couple of days of treatment. Now her eye isn’t swollen at all but she keeps it closed.
