I just recently heard this from somebody and found it interesting. A device called a FakeTV has been found helpful in scaring away unwanted critters. The FakeTV is a security device about the size of a coffee cup that recreates the light of a television that is used as a home security device. Apparently, you can plug it in outside your chicken coop and the different flashing color lights scare the raccoon's and other unwanted critters away. Just a thought!

Interesting idea, but the raccoon population around my house come and visit on our back deck and yard, right outside the window where we watch TV. Even with the windows open, and we have lights on, and are generally making noise and motion, they just visit as if we weren't there. As long as there is a food source (in our case, bird seed), they seem to tolerate anything.

I've taken to putting out live traps baited with peanut butter. Works like a charm, even if we have to "dispose" of them after trapping.

I have heard about this too but there is a more simple solution. Raccoons and other preditors know that a human voice equals humans are present and will stay away. If you put a radio near your coop or garden with a radio station that has more talk than music, they will tend to stay away. Best is to tune the radio to your favorite gospel station. This way, you will get to listen to your favorite station and keep the predators away at the same time.

I have a better solution put a hot wire around your coop turn it on at night time once a dog, cat, raccoon or any animal touch it,it will shock the hell out of them works every time no worries
