Raccoons

Today, we transitioned our first chicks out to a coop, and a boy did a raccoon already get the memo. I keep waking to check on them, and the raccoon can't find a way in the coop, but I can't sleep for fear of the raccoon finding a way inside. Is this just life with chickens? Will the raccoon eventually go away and leave them alone? Anyway I can deter the raccoon?

the best way to get rid of a raccoon or other small pest is to trap it with a live trap and let animal control take it away. And yes this is life for most chickens but does not mean they should live a life of trying to be killed.
