Radish greens ok ?

I have been feeding my hens radish greens. This seems to have made their poop less loose and it has green material in it. their poops also seem larger. is this ok to keep feeding them? Maybe it cleans them out ! HMMMMM

Henry, there's some concern about brassicas and a radish is a brassica.

However, nearly all of these plants are grown for livestock feed, including radishes. You can buy "Tasty Chicken Treats" - mixes of several brassicas from Sandhill Preservation: "Essex Rape, Millet, Mustard, Turnips, and Winter Radishes."

Personally, I would use a measure of caution like not piling it in on 'em and using healthy plants. If they've grown under difficult conditions, brassicas can develop high nitrate levels. Some of the other toxic issues are the same as they'd be for us - indigestion. Think about what might happen if you gave the cub scout troop all the hot dogs and French's Mustard they could eat . That mustard is made from mustard seeds and those plants are another species of brassica. Just like some of the cub scouts, the chickens may not use good sense

I pile on the lettuce, radish greens collards, and bok choi leaves every day.

I dont give them too many radish greens cause I get first pick! I love the greens in soup, and I have soup daily.

The only one I would limit if they are layers is cabbage, cause if you give them too much, you will taste the cabbage in the eggs.

the radishes are grown in really good soil and look great so I think I should be fine.
