rain, rain, go away

We have had "tropical" rains here since Sunday afternoon. My run is a muddy, swampy, nasty mess.
The chickens feet are literally sinking into the mud. They have been confined to the coop today. The roosts, nest boxes, bedding and eggs are just covered in the stuff.
I spread two bales of straw in the run on Tuesday morning and by Tuesday evening it literally disappeared. The chickens walked into the mud.
The forecast through Sunday is sunny and highs in the lower 80's, I certainly hope so.

I know, here in NH continuous rain too, and COLD. It is in the mid 40s and raining. I keep going out and dumping the rain off the tarp I have covering the run. Dry chickens, but unhappy because of the cold rain. I just keep going out and giving them treats. Rain rain, go away! we also have 2 cord of wood to stack before next weeks 2 cord get here. ugh!

I hope the rain passes soon! I have more things to do to my coop and run, like add lots of sand!
