My chicks are about 6 wk old and mostly feathered.
They have been in the tractor about a week.
Still running the light at night though I don't know why.
The coop is dry, the run has 2 covered areas and middle open.
Opened the door this morning thinking they would hit the feeder and water between rains.
But no they rushed out as usual and stayed out.
Doesn't seem they even know its raining.
There is a small puddle and that's where several are sitting (about 2 inches water).
They have been sitting in the shade avoiding the sun but today is confusing to me.
Should I be looking for any illness after this?
Should I have not let them out today?
This isn't like totally free range and mamma raised I am actually worried.

Hi !,
welcome-byc.gif

What kind of birds are they? Marans are a swamp chicken and don't mind mud, snow, wet at all. I don't know about other breeds. If they are really sodden maybe dry them of with a towel and make sure their feet aren't caked with mud., I would make sure they have a dry place to stay warm when they come in. Like you said your coop was.
Best,
Karen
