Is it ok for young (6 weeks old) chicks to be out in the rain? They have access to get in the coop if they want to. When it rains, they don't seem to want to go inside. We do put them in the coop and lock the door to the outside when it rains.

Temperature and how well feathered they are is what counts. At 6 weeks I'd say if it isn't cold out they are fine.

Thanks. It's good to hear from someone from Maine. I thought they would want to go in if they didn't want to get wet. My husband just went out and put them in the coop.

My chickens are out today in the rain, but they are all full grown.
I personally open up one door(as opposed to the 2 big ones) so they can stay inside out of the rain or go run around as they please

as long as they are feathered and can come in out of the rain, they will be fine.
