Rainy Day Play

It's raining again this week so I had to come up with some fun for the Little Barn Girls. The new chicks have still been getting use to the Coop with their Big Sisters. Up until today, they mostly hung out in little burrows that they made to stay safe together. They've made a lot of progress since the weekend. Today they were chirping a lot, they had their heads up and out of hiding and were exploring. They even tiptoed up to look into where the egg layers go. Last night my husband built a cool chicken ladder for them to play on while they are cooped up from the rain!

We're still finishing a new coop and our 4 week old pullets have been stuck in the brooder because it's been raining, chilly and windy. Yesterday I made them chicken jungle gym in the kitchen! Stacked blocks to different heights, put a few clumps of grass on newspaper with grit sprinkled within and a few branches to jump from/roost on. They had so much fun!

I figured since I was going to sweep and mop anyway, mine as well let them get some exercise My husband thought I'd lost my mind but quickly changed his tune watching them flap about

I'm all about chicken fun ingenuity!
