Am in Colorado which is a dry climate . 2001 until 2006 my birds / fowl were high hatchets. So much that I didn't need to re purchase from my original birds. Then it dwindled and then then barely to nothing even with bringing in new birds.. This year it's crazy with so far full hatches of chicks and the goslings..

Could the sudden change of successful hatching, be, because of the returns of rains, pair'd with just the perfect quick high temps bringing in high moisture to a past years of dry drought in a dry air climate.. It was so bad from the start of pre spring this year, that I lost a full load of hay that I thought might catch on fire to have to pull it all apart.

Always so very happy to see my birds successful for all the time they spend sitting on their nest.. Especially the Geese as they are so sensitive ..

Interesting.
I'd like to follow to see what others have to say.

Do you incubate indoors/incubator or with broody hens?

It has to be true.. lots of evening light rains with high temps during the day.. and am starting to be over flowed with successful gosling hatching's .. We are at 16 new goslings.. and some of my Ganders are 14 to 16 years old.. I truly thought the few hatching's and not hatching strong thriving goslings was due to the age of my males and original females.. And it's Trending in my Barn for the Geese to hatch a token baby chick...

I have 3 Geese protecting a personally hatched baby chick and even though I have tried to place the baby chick with a nesting mamma hen that will take them in... they go back to their mamma geese.. Mamma geese are feriece about their chicks and makes it hard for me to put food and water down for the chick and not get pinched for being too close..
I am happy the single baby chicks are being protected and kept warm with their mamma geese..
