Hi All,
Please share some of your stories if you have raised a one legged chick.
Our 3 week old chick, Cleo, recovered well from her accident and amputation but was rejected by her mama who enforced separation of her from her healthy siblings. We have returned the mama and 2 healthy chicks to our neighbor- to get the enclosure ready for goats, whom we hope will be Cleo's mates when she's bigger. Right now, one of the baby goats who is always looking to suckle, suckled Cleo head in. So we believe the baby goats like Cleo but have not figured out what she is.
The mama had rejected Cleo after her accident and enforced separation between Cleo and her siblings. We know Cleo is lonely but we are told even if we were to place her with younger chicks, once they see her handicap, she will be down on the pecking order. We are trying to figure out if we should just wait for Cleo to grow large so she can be mates with the goats or get her a younger feathered friend.
We would appreciate your experience in raising a one-legged chick. Thanks in advance!
