Raising a rejected baby chick

So for some reason, this baby chick was rejected by its moms, and I say mom's because the 2 mother hens are raising their chicks altogether. When I went down to the coop this morning to see how everyone was doing, I saw this chick all by itself and when it went over to get some food, the mother hens started attacking it and it started to cry. I tried, leaving it in a different part of the coup in a carrier and all it would do is cry and cry. I picked the check up and all of a sudden it stopped and started to go to sleep.. There were 3 other eggs left behind and I hear some chirping in them. So I brought a huge box inside with the heat lamp, put the eggs in it along with the baby chick, and all she did was cry again.. The only time it stops is when I am holding it, but I can't hold it all day, so this is what I came up with. Has anybody else had to hold a baby chick a lot because it was the only way to keep it happy?

Interesting solution.
However, it needs to be active and exploring. I would put into a box/brooder with one of its siblings. With a friend, proper warmth, food and water, it shouldn't be upset.
As for the other eggs, make sure the space is 99F and humid (60%+).
A heat lamp in a spot with lots of cool space may be ok for chicks but less than ideal for hatching eggs. An infrared heat lamp heats what it is aimed at and not ambient air. That may boil the eggs or leave them too cool. Use a different heat source like an incandescent.
Sounds like all the eggs weren't started at the same time.

Since you brought in the remaining hatching eggs, under a heat lamp, try putting a feather duster or a cozy stuffed animal under the warmth. Put the chick under the duster or snuggled in the stuffed animal or even put what you have in a mug under the heat.

Great idea about the feather duster and yes, that is in there with her right now.. I'm not sure, what do you mean about put what I have in a mug, do you need put the eggs in a mug?

I assume they meant putting the chick in a mug. None of my hatchlings would ever remain in a mug no matter how physically compromised they were.

Yes I meant put the wrap you made in the cup but if you got a feather duster, it works alot better ... See my avatar

So I am happy to say that now I have 4 baby chicks in the house. The moment the 2nd chick was born, the other chick quieted down and is very happy. Yesterday was when the last one was born which was a surprise to me as it is a few days younger than the others. They're happy and in good health.

I have used a wash cloth crumpled a bit in a brooder box with a heat lamp and the chick snuggled right in.

Awww so cute and they look so comfortable! Here, in a few weeks, they will be going out in the coop and they'll be put in with Buffy who is blind in one eye, a Buff Orpington who raised some other chicks last year.
