Ok just looking for some info here. I may be crazy but have to ask. I have 2 barred rock chickens. in a 12 sq ft coop and 32 sq foot space of outdoor run. I just thought about raising 1 turkey for thanksgiving. Can I raise a turkey with the chickens?? Is this enough space. Will the turkey be any louder than the hens??. LOL is this a stupid idea?? I have been accused of coming up with these a few times.

no this is a great idea! it would be best to raise 2 turkeys with your 2 chickens. this way the turkey has a friend and the turkey doesnt pick on your chickens. i have raised turkeys and chickens togather before in this type of space. good »

There is one problem. Chickens can get turkeys sick I can't remember the name of the disease but the turkeys get sick from the chickens poop. You may want to research it a bit first before jumping into it.

It's called blackhead and I've never had a problem with it. It is a regional thing though so you are correct that the op should research it. Check with the local extension office to see if it is a problem in your area.

Thank you after a full day of work I couldn't remember the name of it but I do know for my areea (New England) I was told to keep them separate for roosting. If they free range they can be together when they do that during the day but their water, food and sleep areas should be kept separate.
