We're looking into (finally!) getting out of California...

We're considering Phoenix. Anyone in the area and what do you do to offset the heat? I'm in Southern California, Riverside and we had a scorcher of a summer; the girls were panting almost every day regardless of icing their water, adding electrolytes and even gatorade.

I would go "full retard" and install an A/C in the coop; walk-in shed size of coop course and even those water misty thingies...

I lived in the Phoenix area 1000 years ago... I lived near the ‘sahuaro ranch park’ where there were chickens and peacocks... so i kept no birds myself, but ‘swamp coolers’ were still somewhat common at that time, so that might be an option?
