(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
We were given 8 chicks this spring and then we got 15 more pullets over the summer. So we’re brand new.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now? Our flock has 1 rooster, and 18 hens
(3) What breeds do you have?
We have this and that. Rhode Island reds, barred rocks, Easter eggers, light Brahma and some mixed breeds.
(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?
I just love the little sounds they make and having them around the yard. They just delight me.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
We just bought 37 acres so we are learning all kinds of homesteading skills.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
I am an herbalist, I love to bake bread, and we homeschool our children. We have 18 cows, 2 cats, 4 children and 19 chickens.
(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community?
