You imagine what frostbite feels like? I know we all have our own way of caring for our flocks, so to each his own. But freezing them alive and then shrugging off " a little frost bite " sounds about as ignorant as "I hit a dog but it was still alive so it's all good" With any due respect... I strongly suggest education and learning how to raise/care for these birds. read instructions. Check your climate number and atleast abide by the suggestions. Imagine living with frost bite...then imagine living long enough for winter to come back around and kill you. Idk your situation but I do know that for 34 years my Bestfriends (our animals) and farm has thrived. I've been able to expand and purchase the neighboring land. . . 4 crummy years after I changed my approach, this entire place blossomed and all it took was love for my land and those on it. *just one person trying to help educate... not hate*I live in upstate NY (saratoga county, hi neighbor!) .. All my chickens did fine last winter in uninsulated coops with no heat and plenty of ventilation. That included my white leghorns, who got by with just a bit of frostbite and several young bantams. I was amazed!
