This is my first experience having a broody hen raise store-bought chicks. Usually when we've had chicks in the past, we started them out indoors and spent as much time as possible with them so they would get comfortable with us. With the chicks now with their new mama most of the time, are you still able to develop a safe and trusting relationship with them? What's the best way to do that? She does trust me with them so that's not an issue.

Broody raised chicks are always very different from human raised chicks. In my opinion, in a much better way. They need to be predator savvy. If they become acclimated to predators they're much easier to be killed by them. All of my broody raised chicks will readily eat from my hands. It just takes them a lot longer to get there.

I spend time in the coop with the hen and chicks as often as I can. If the hen does not attack you, the chicks may get use to you touching them or picking them up. Some scrambled egg will bring them closer to you. Please post pictures.
