Raising Kids and Chicks in Southern MI

I have been reading these forums for a very long time and now I'm needing to post some questions. We are new to chicken keeping, as we just bought a little hobby farm in Southern MI. We were smack in the middle of the city for 17 years, and just made the move to the country with our eleven children. In addition to the big brood of children, we have two dogs, twelve barn cats (6 brand new!) and 12 lovely hens. I'm learning as I go and loving it all!
