This is the first year I have attempted to raise a flock made up of Polish chickens They are about 6 months old and are quite different in their activities than standard chickens. My problem is that many of them look exactly alike and they are straight run. Clearly I must some roosters. However I cannot find anything that would show a difference between rooster and hen. Does anyone know of any distinguishing characteristics that I could see to be able to tell them a part. I only want one rooster in the coop and surely I have more than 1 right now. If I can't tell them apart then I will have no way of separating out the roosters,

If you post pictures of each, many can help here. Other than that, the males have a wild, messy look to their heads, while the hens "poof"is neater and cleaner. Here is one of my boys

I didn't end up with any girls out of four, but their head feathers are more compact and round looking.

If that is the case then I have four roosters who look very similar and the other 6 are hens. That would be perfect. I hope that I am seeing what you are seeing.

If not crowing yet, look at the comb and wattles. Males will have bigger and redder. Our males started crowing around 13 weeks. We thought the buff had “girl” shaped topknot, but that is obviously not a reliable way to tell for sure.

I am unable to help re sexing. But now that I have two Polish hens I am totally gaga over their big hair, and their equally big personalities. All of my chicken addiction will likely be directed to getting more Polish. They are so sweet natured that I am guessing your roos will likely be civilized and capable of being integrated with everybody else.
