Raising Quail

I am starting out with looking into raising quail (probably the Texas A&M whites and some Jumbo Coturnix). I have noticed that I can buy eggs from several different breeders, but my question is, if I buy from one breeder (say 2 doz eggs of each breed) how do I tell if the breeders I keep are related, or does it make a difference? That is unless I buy froom different breeders.

Welcome! I'm not a breed expert but to help with your question, as I once had the same concern, the bigger the breeder, the less likelihood of the breeds being related, but inbreeding and direct line breeding is very common with chickens. I would think quail are like chickens, and you aren't likely to find a problem. You may want to ask your questions on the "Quail thread." Just put that in the search box and it should pop up. Welcome to Backyard chickens.
