Raising Seramas

Bluegrass, how cold do your temps dip? Do you keep them with your larger birds, or are they seperated? What size egg do they lay? You've been a wonderful source of info, thank you!!

seramas can lay up to 25% of their own body weight so that varies. i have had from about a little bigger than pigeon eggs to about size of small silkie eggs from mine.

mine lay OEG to silkie sized, and just becouse the egg is big the baby might not be when adult.

I agree for the most part that SOME seramas are good in the cold weather BUT that is for seramas in the large B class and up if you have small, chesty, smaller body'ed then its different,( I am not saying all mine are tiny perfect birds either though..) If they are tiny keep em in if they are bigger let em out.......

size has never made a difference they have all been hardy for me and i have not lost one to cold only preditor attacks. as long as they have had time to adjust to winter there shouldn't be any problem.
