Raising some feral Florida street chickens!

This is the beginning of a little experiment to raise a group of Florida's feral street chickens! So far so good. I started with 8 last weekend, though one that was particularly weak didn't make it through the first night. The remaining 7 look great! It will be interesting to see what I end up with. I'm hoping for hardy and heat-tolerant chickens!

I noticed one of the local feral hens had hatched out at least 20 chicks and decided to take a few off her hands since there was no way she was going to be able to keep that many chicks fed and safe from predators.

20 chicks is a lot of chicken snacks for some enterprising dog or cat. Glad you were able to rescue them!
