My two young daughters run a little farm business. Right now we have chickens and they sell their eggs and show them. We are looking at expanding next year into turkeys.

We are wondering if anyone has a good book/website about raising turkeys for meat.

What is the price per pound of fresh local turkeys in your area? I am not sure even how to price this.

Thanks!

That's Great I have gotten my Daughter involved with our chickens she pretty much takes care of the Chickens now and I take the eggs to work and sell them.
She also helps me with the Turkeys.
If you are looking for cold hard facts Google your question and most of the time I find what I,m looking for but as far as the personal touch for off the wall and strange answers to questions here is the best place you can come to and as far as books go I have not bought any.
There have been people here in the past that have made suggestions on books to buy.
As far as Turkey meat and price per pound and were to sell I think its up to were you live.
Right now my Bourbon Reds are 6 months old 2 months short of being full grown and if I were to sell mine for less than $35 to $40 dollars I would be taking a loss.
In 2 more months I would need to get $45 to $50 dollars each.
The price of feed seems to be going up every 4 to 6 weeks because of the drought.
I am to call the head of the local Farmers market to see if she will allow me to bring my Turkeys in to sell.
It seems the old fashion farmers market is a thing of the past were if you produce it on your land you can bring it in to sell I will see soon.
