How do I raise two Coturnix chicks to be friendly? They are 1 day old now and I am taking them home Wednesday. One of them has already kind of imprinted on me, the other is a bit less but still follows my hand.
How can I raise them to be friendly? Any tips? I've got the whole holidays to spend with them so they can become as friendly as possible.

I assume this is about the same for quails as for chickens. Please quail people correct me if Im wrong.

Handle them with care.

Make sure you don't frighten them by hanging over them. Come sideways. If you hang above them their instinct, (being afraid of predators) will get them scared and want to flee.

Give food /treats by picking a bit of chick feed or a dried insect out of the bowl and lay it before them on the floor or let them eat out of your hand.

Are the quail sexed?
Not sexed means the chances are:
25% 2 pullets
25% 2 cockerels
50 % 1 of each
..
You need to think about the future. What is acceptable for you and okay for your quail?

Place the brooder on higher table / cabinet, as high as your eye level if you could, and pick a brooder that open from the front not from the top, So you could approach and interact with them from the front everytime, and they will be calm and friendly!

Chicks at all age, even the tamest one, will be panicking if you approach them from upside.

Good luck ❤️ it’s so exciting to raise them from teeny-tiny palm size! 🥹 They’ll outgrow your palm before you know it.

They are fine, I've got quail to put them with. Thanks for the reply! They can't be sexed until around 6 weeks old.
