Ran out of oyster shell, is budgie oyster shell okay alternative?

I'd think oyster shell is oyster shell. They're really fine without it for several days until you can buy more, isn't the stuff packaged for house birds horribly expensive? I only toss some in when I notice shells getting thin, mine don't get it all the time, and my young layers hardly get any at all.

give them eggs shells, - they prefer them, and are very cheap. It does not lead to egg eating, other than if you drop an egg on the floor.
