range broilers and roosting

My four week old range broilers have been found roosting with their chick friends. Is this something I should expect to continue or will they be more like cornish x...i.e. as they get older and bigger, should I provide roosts for them or will roosting cause them more harm?

IF you do, don't make it that high, like maybe stand a 2x6 on the 2" end, so its only 6" off the ground.

I would love for my broilers to roost!!!!!! How did you accomplish that????

No broilers laying in their poo, cleaner birds at butchering time WOW. Breed for that trait.

I agree with miss thenorth, do not make them high, 2x6 sounds perfect. You don't want to end up with bruised breasts.

all i did was provide them a roost and they used it. perhaps being raised with four others who roost (BTW and Polish) helps. Well, as long as it shouldn't hurt their legs to balance, i guess i'll let them do it!
