It's been four days and I have been trying to get someone out to take a look at my air conditioning. First guy that fixed my mom's air....never even returned my call. Second guy my friends neighbor ... yeah he was suppose to come yesturday. My friend called me and said he asked her call me and tell me he was finishing up the hay and he would call me when he was done. ( he was supposed to call me when he was on his way originally) so it was 5 pm and I thought well he will be coming late no problem. 7 pm rolls around ..nothing, So I call him and here is the conversation ...

(me) Hi, how are you, we were wondering if you were still going to come out today?

(dude) yeah, silly me, I don't know why I told you yesturday that I would be out today I had hay on the ground and I had to get it up today because it was supposed to rain (I called him while he was in the hay field the day before

) He knew he had hay....

, but I will be out tomorrow though on my way home from work if that is ok, Actually I don't know what time it will be so if you want to just leave the blower on and I can give you a shot of freon and you can just mail me a check

.(me thinking ... really)

(me) yeah, well let me run that by my husband, I'll see what he says. Thanks ,....Bye.

Oh my word, I could bite a nail in two at this point

, but I was nice. He called back and I didn't answer, I really needed a minute. So I tell my Dh what dude said, Dh said I don't think so.

Now first of all, our home is only two years old, so ... as is our air conditioning-heat everything. So no I should not be needing freon, it is obvious that there is a leak or faulty part somewhere. So no I just don't want a shot of freon at the charge of 100 bucks either. I want the problem fixed.

. My Ds split his big two in half literally over the weekend while mowing the grass (he slipped while pulling the mower uphill and his foot went under the mower

) and we need air because he does not need to be sweating with a serious injury like that with a cast on it ...

... come on

. This dude knew this and ..... oh well. I forgot about my hay. Now everybody that does hay knows you don't forget about the hay needin' to be put up.

. Oh I am so ticked off at that stinker fella. I would have rathered him just say I can get out there Thursday cause I have hay to put up tomorrow, than to just not come and then tell us. I called him back and my Dh told him not to worry about stopping by we would get someone else.

I called the folks that originally put our heating and air in and they said they would be there today

. And I know from experience that they will be there when they say they will

.

I totally understand that folks can't drop what they are doing to come service my air, but dawg-gone just let my know if and when you can. Especially if you have to drive right past my home on your way. Heck I would not have minded if he just gave me a shot of freon and came back when he had more time to find the exact problem ... sheesh. Just let me know

Hope you get it fixed today - its too hot to be without AC

Side note: Please make sure all of those with central AC clean it at least twice a year (fall and spring). You can do it yourselves

You'd be surprised how much gunk gets built up on the air handlers around the unit outside, preventing it from working right. All the AC pro's use is automotive cleaner to clean the handlers.

Purchase a product that is made for aluminum wheels (its a cleaner that you spray on) It HAS to be an aluminum wheel cleaner (we use a product made by Maguires in a purple bottle, costs about $7.00). This will not harm the aluminum in your AC unit, but will eat off all dirt and grime.

Turn off the unit.

Take off the cover from it and remove all hair, leaves, etc (you'll be shocked how much gunk is surrounding it, especially if you have outside dogs)

Spray the cleaner all around the unit and let it sit for about 5 minutes, then take your hose and rinse it all off - making sure you get it all off.

Spray the cover, let sit - then rinse off as well.

Put cover back on - and away ya go!

If you had someone come out to do this - it would cost you around $100.00 - $200.00 for services. We have a friend who owns his own AC/Heating business and this is what he uses to clean all the AC units

Hope it helps some of you!

Thanks for the tip henny,

The guy from where we had our unit put in did show up and he said the a-coil is bad.

The good thing is it is still under warranty.

The bad news is the service to replace it is not.

He charged us $72.00, just to come out and look at it ... took 20 minutes

.
I might as well get ready for it ... anybody got any vaseline

Edited to add: And they can't fix it till Monday

I hope you are able to stay fairly cool during this holiday weekend! But it is time to hold your head high, be thankful you have a home (however hot) and get off that pity pot!

my air has been out for two years and its 100 degrees here.. I have a tiny window unit in my bedroom and it barely makes a dent in the heat... I know how you feel... Hopefully I will get my air fixed soon

I have air in the house and hardly ever use it..yes I am in MN,but it still gets hot here...I do however have the air on in the kennel for the dogs any time it gets above 75 degrees inside the building..so what does that tell you about the way things work here..lol..
