I saw raisins on the treats list but there was no additional information. My chickens go NUTS for them but id hate to have harm come to them because of it. Anyone have an additional info?

I give them to my flock occasionally, but in SMALL AMOUNTS. Raisins, like figs (which my flock also loves, they stalk the fig tree) and some other fruits, can give them diarrhea if feed in large amounts.

I give them for treats sometimes but just a handful for 5 girls....they go crazy for raisins, dried cranberries and figs/dates. But I don't give a lot because of loose poop if too much

Thanks

My one hen McNugget will jump a few feet off the ground to take raisins from my hand and acts like a junkie when ever one enters the run looking for treats and we only gave them to her a couple times.

Oh yeah, they love them. I just get the cheapo boxed Kroger brand as treats. I'll have to be stingier now though, after reading about runny poo. Try peanuts sometime too. I get the shelled kind, and they attack me impatiently while I'm breaking the shell open to get the nuts to them...lol. It's pretty funny.

I would think they would need grit to grind up the raisins. Okay for 5 weekers, but in very small amounts.
