I haven't posted here in a while, all of my chickens ended up dying from an overnight raccoon attack. But since then I've gotten two budgerigars.

My chickens and ducks ate raspberry leaves for years. Multiple species of raspberry (black raspberry, wine raspberry, etc.) dangled into their outdoor pen, and by June all of the branches were stripped bare of leaves. They'd jump, and even climb to the top of the fence just to get to the leaves. They also loved it when I offered raspberry leaves to them as a treat.

My question is if budgerigars can eat raspberry leaves too. I haven't seen any threads about people feeding them raspberry leaves so I'm just curious. Also it would be cool to know if they offer any nutritional benefit to the birds.

Raspberry leaves are fine, though the budgies would probably do more chewing than actual eating. Hanging a few canes in their cage(s) would provide for some entertainment.

:)

Update to this thread; they enjoy eating raspberry leaves, raspberries (prefer wine raspberries and black raspberries), amaranth, lettuce (even when it's gone bitter), grass seeds, and more.

So yes you can feed it to them. There's spines on the leaves but the smaller leaves have less spines than the larger leaves. Budgies in fine condition right now.
