My Coop
My Coop
My 11 week old Delaware pullet, Sunshine has had this weird sounding voice for a few weeks now. She acts normal, eats, drinks, and plays. My other 9 week olf pullets still squeak noramlly and smoothly.

Here's a video :

It could be that her voice will be deeper as she gets older, but make sure that your coop has good ventilation, and if not, make windows covered with hardware cloth. Ventilation and keeping the coop free of moisture, dust, and ammonia odors will help to prevent aspergillosis from mold, and other respiratory diseases. Look around for any wet areas, or if the pine shavings are too dusty. Larger breed chickens do develop deeper voices.

We have a Black Copper Marans who when she gets excited about food, honks loudly. She sounds like a truck. None of the others honk. She's all BCM, and nothing wrong with her, she just shows her heightened excitement level, and is often pacing with anticipation when she does this. ("Incoming treats!" Honk Honk!) lol
