Rat hole?

can anybody tell me what made this hole?I was thinking a rat I'm not sure,I just found it today and it definitely ain't a chicken,the hole is inside the run,all covered by chicken wire,hole seems pretty deep and I can't find another exit to it so my guess its pretty long,any ideas?

Rat would be my thought as well. They can dig pretty magnificent tunnels to get to a food source.

We had a awful mice problem, we set out traps covered with bricks for month and now we are rat/mice free. Barn cats would also do the job.

Can you put something down next to hole for scale? If 2 or 3 inches, it might be rats. If it is, should be more holes than one.
