Rat poison and egg safety

Well, I'm so upset with myself! I was refilling rat bait stations today, at the time the chickens were in their run. I let them out a little later. When I went to put them back in I realized I had left an opened package with the bait in it. I'm almost sure that they did not get into it, but since I'm not positive I guess I need to treat them as if they did.
The type of poison was bromethalin which is not an anti-coagulant type. We had a serious rat problem resulting in a very expensive crawl space clean out which is why we do use the bait.
So my question is, aside from observing the chickens as to whether or not they appear sick, is how safe those eggs would be to eat?

Has anyone been able to find much information on this?

I am sure that if the chicken did not die you could eat the egg and be fine. Why risk it though? I would let those eggs go and chalk it up as a good reminder to be more careful when handling the rat poison.

Believe me after this incident I will be extremely careful. In fact I'm going to find out the proper way to dispose of it and find something that could possibly be safer in case of ingestion.

I've gone over it so many times trying to remember how many were left in the package. I'm 99% sure that they didn't get any. The package was right where I left it and there were no holes or marks through to the bait. They literally would have to have put their heads in and pulled out 2 cubes (about 2x2x1 inch each). As my daughter commented, even when our dog tries to stick her head in a bag of chips she pulls the bag all over :)

So, it's more about peace of mind and how long I would toss the eggs (1 week, a month?). In fact only 2 out of 6 are even laying right now.

Thanks Odelia for your reply.
