It has been about a week now since I noticed I had a rat problem. My coop is about 7 years old, and some wood in the back had started rotting so I was gonna replace it in the spring. I realized that there were rats back there too. Obviously I don't want them there. They chew holes and destroy the coop, they steal chicken food, they can attack and kill smaller chickens, and they could spread disease. A few nights ago I killed one with a pellet gun. I know there is at least one more but probably a bunch. I see a huge one every night and the chickens are terrified of it. I thought I shot it in the face last night but I think I missed it and it lived. It seems like there are new holes every day there were a bunch of holes in the run that I covered with dirt and tried to cover all the holes in the coop with bricks. Today there are 2 new holes in the run and one in the coop. I dont know what to do anymore! I try multiple traps every night but they always escape somehow!
