We did our first batch of cx's. Mostly for ourselves, but dh sold 3 to a lady at work. This particular lady is supposed to be quite picky. She kept telling dh that she wanted it to look just like the store chicken. I washed, and plucked, and made sure thier were no hairs etc. etc. Then I positioned it just right and vacume sealed them-- they looked PERTY! She was impressed with the look of them, and then cooked 2 for visiting family (she's a single lady, but had some family in). She was VERY impressed, and will be buying some from our next batch!! I know this isn't so exciting for those of you who have been doing this for a while-- but it is for me.

to your sig. 2nd I'd like to know, if you don't mind, how much you can sell them for...just a range if your uncomfortable with it. I've been interested in the idea, but can't help but think it'd cost so much more than a store bought chicken that people wouldn't go for it.

They sell here at the farmers market for $3.50/lb. I sold them to her for 'round about $3/lb. The ones I sold weighed 3.12, 3.13, and 3.14. Yes, considerably more than store bought, but people who want to know where their food comes from, are willing to pay that for them. I'm not, that's why I raise my own. Profit isn't huge, about $4 per chicken. My goal is to cover the cost of the chickens that we eat. I would have to sell 1/2 of them to do that. Selling 3, really didnt dent the cost much (took a WHOPPING $0.50 off each that we ate;)), but I'm still happy about it-- and good reviews= word of mouth sales!
