Raw ACV?

How often do you add it to the water? Every day? Couple times a month?

Will it help prevent parasites, like worms?

Although I don't use raw---- I add 1Tblsp/gallon just about daily.

The purpose is to change the pH of the water to be more acidic and promote a better environment in the chicken's gut, thus better absorbtion and digestion.

It isn't a preventer of parasites from what I know. One of the reasons chickens like rainwater and other puddles is that it is more acidic than most tap water. Some locations have different acidity in their water....ours is pretty low.

So using regular kitchen ACV is ok? I want to use this to balance ph in a bird that is prone to sour crop but cant seem to find organic or "with mother"

For over a year I've been using regular ACV--- with no ill effects. :O)

I'm not certain if it is the pH factor that I'm giving it to my birds...the organic or other factors would make a difference. sorry I don't know anything about sour crop---and haven't read up on it. Hopefully another BYC member will chime in. :O)

Thanks for the info. Still helpful. I am just unsure if ou can use it everyday in the water with no effect on the hens. We are currently battling worms so I am curious to hear if the raw ACV is a good preventive measure once the worms clear up.

I purchased my ACV at Whole Foods Market. Do you have one of those? Also check natural health food stores in your area. You could always order online. I keep seeing a lot of people recommend the brand "Braggs"

Part of it would depend upon the pH of your water without the vinegar. Remember that is the objective of adding it. To cure worms you will need a good wormer. Probably a worming program such as two or three times a year would be the best approach. hth

Wonderful, I do have a whole foods, well its not near but I can get to one

. I will check up on the regular ACV and get the other stuff this weekend.
