Rays Marans

Hi. I am wondering if anyone has birds from Rays Marans in Florida? If so are they nice stock and what colour of eggs do they normally lay?
Thanks - thinking of ordering from there, but don't know anything about their stock and their website is not up and running right now.

If this is Ray Valentine over to Old Town, Florida I have some of his Cuckoo Marans that I bought two or three years ago. Their eggs weren't the dark chocolate color of some that I've seen, but I'd class them as at least a good grade of milk chocolate. I was happy with them. The hens make a nice good size too.

Relative to Barred Rocks and Rhode Island Reds I found them to be a bit panicky, but I've been told that's a breed charactertistic.

I bought and split 15 BCM's chicks with 5 Birchens from Ray last year with a friend here on BYC. The Birchen girls look great. Hadn't laid yet. The Copper Blacks lay a very solid 6 from one hen, and it has tons of blotches. The other girls lays near a 5. Both girls have great size. I am very happy with Rays birds. He only raises 4 types Marans now. I would get some.
