Re-growing feathers

When I first got my 4 hens, 2 were picked on by the others, resulting in a bald backend under the tail feathers. They've never regrown, but it does not seem to bother them, as they've been laying each day large to extra large eggs. Is there anything that can be done about this? I hate to see these red bald spots. Also, when their wings were clipped, the pens never grew back. I had pigeons years ago, whose feathers grew back and moulting took place. What is the difference here? Thanks, Johanna48

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow

Yes these feathers should grow out during their next molt. Make sure to watch they don't start this bad habit up again. If you use ladders for roosting at night, the lower birds will probably feather pick the birds above again. If this is the case you might want to use a standard roosting bar.
