Is there a way to tell the difference between males and females while they are still chicks? Thanks!

Silkies are very hard to sex, even at a few months old.

Ok follow these instructions very closely:

1-Pick up the silkie
2-hold out a wing and count the feathers on the left wing.
3-Now see if any of the feathers on it's legs are touching
it's 5th foot.
4-Take the number from #2 and minus 1 if #3 is a yes.
5-Now flip a coin. Heads it's a hen, tails it's a roo.
Accuracy is around 50%

There are subtle hints, but nothing's for sure until they crow or pop an egg out of their butt! (I have 9 I'm trying to figure out, so I understand!)

I wish there was a way to tell for sure. Its so hard to name them since you dont know the sex. I dont want to have to change all their names when they get bigger. I'm so impatient too. I Want to know now! Grrrrr....
