Ok I know that some folks have strong opinions on religion and related topics so please be respectful, positive and open minded. I did something yesterday that I wanted to share because I am very excited about it!

I became an ordained minister!

I did this because some friends of mine wanted me to marry them and although they are not religious they are very spiritual, like me, and they know that religion and spirituality are two subjects that I have studied for a very long time. I started asking questions about everything related to these topics when I was very young and my Father loves to tell stories about how I challenged him to look at things from new angles even way back then.

Now I don't have any hard answers or facts about one doctrine over another (and this is not the place to air them if I did) but I have come to realize that it is important to feed the spirit as well as the body. That being said I became a minister through a very all encompassing and tolerant church mainly so that I could marry folks. I am VERY excited by the prospect! I have seen many weddings where the minister seemed to think that the wedding was more about him (or her) than about the couple they are marrying! So I am very excited to be able to offer my services to couples that want the focus to be on them.

Since I am accepting of all beliefs I think this puts me in a unique position to do just that. I do think the ceremony should focus on the couple and fulfill their dreams of what they want!

So now I want to hear about something unique that you have done or just who you are! Again I would expect no judgement from others so keep replies positive and if you don't agree with someone else's views just don't comment on that particular post.

Oh and please keep it clean! This is a family forum and there are many other forums you can go to to post that kind of material on! That being said, let's see what other unique individuals are out there!

That is fantastic

good for you...

Hey congrats!!!! My daughter's best friend did the exact same thing so she could marry my daughter and because she was so certain of her beliefs. She's gone on to be a very important person to people who's beliefs don't fit in regular churches.
Me, I guess the most important thing I ever did (in my eyes at least) was to become a foster parent to very, very sick babies. I helped families learn to care for their children and keep them safe and that's something I'll always feel good about.

Thank you Dar and farmerlor! I appreciate the support!
Farmerlor I am awed by your special gift!!! What a wonderful calling! Seriously amazing!

How neat! I didn't even know a person could do something like that.

I guess the most surprising thing I have ever done is join our local volunteer ambulance corps as a junior in high school. I also went on to get certified as an EMT. I never would have seen myself doing something like that in a million years! Yet I set my sights on it, and went all the way through. Next year will be my unofficial five years as a member, but I've been on school leave of absence so I won't actually get a pin. I've really enjoyed doing it though.

That's so cool! My oldest DD is currently attending EMT classes. I'm CPR and emergency First Aid trained but that's about it. I think it would be stressful but she is very cool in a crisis. How was it for you?
