My hens, I have a fairly large group of them, won't roost in their coop. I let them out to free range during the day and they always manage to roost anywhere BUT the coop. I hadn't really tried to stop them until a month ago when I quit getting eggs so I knew they were laying elsewhere.

I tried locking them in the coop for 2 weeks, feeding and watering in the coop, leaving a light on a little past dusk... I dont know what else to do and recently I lost a couple to predators because they just sit there on the ground! the coop is secure, they shouldnt be afraid to go in it, it had adequate roosting space and nest boxes.... I just dont know what to do and I really dont want to stop them from free-ranging during the day. Any suggestions would be great! Thanks

We had this issue as well. We had to shut them in for a couple of days to convince them it was "home", after that they started going in each night.
