I have an incubator of indeterminate age. I have had it for almost 20 years and havent used it in over a decade.
I have had multiple successful hatches from it , but we stopped having chickens many years ago. It's been so long that my previous account here is under an email address I don't even remember! Lol.
We currently have rebuilt our coop, have some layers and would like to hatch out some chicks.
There is very little I know about this incubator. The only name on it is chickasaw incubators. And that is on a sticker on the thermostat.
We are rebuilding the cabinet, and were shocked to see that the fan, and turner, still work perfectly.
When we put the fluke on the points on the insulators it read 86 volts.
The wire will have to be replaced, but from what we can tell its 1/8of an inch coils.
Unfortunately, the heating coil is destroyed.
I would really rather build a new one if possible than spend the money to buy.
So does anyone have the experience to point me on the right direction on replacing what I need to replace so I can build a new cabinet?
Also, from what I remember , I had to add a bowl of water for humidity. We are in South East Texas so we are humid naturally. With our weather is it possible to forgo the water all together and work with a dry hatch or would I need to continue to add water? If so is it possible to automate that aspect since we are looking at a total rebuild?
I have included pictures. Please remember, this has been stored for a decade and is NOT pretty. Lol. Because I am scrapping the whole cabinet (its particle board and although mostly still solid it's not attractive or worth keeping) I did not clean it up for your viewing pleasure.
