So, 2 weeks ago a fox got in and nearly got one of my hens, my Alpha hen.
The others were attacking her, so I separated her for the last 2 weeks. She was still in the coop and run, just fenced off from them.
In these 2 weeks, she has gotten much better and just did not want to stay fenced off in her smaller area. So, yesterday, I let her out to see what would happen. The 2 babies, her babies (now 10 weeks) hang out with her. The other 2 (only surviving members) kinda go do their own thing.
One hen, which I would call the 2nd fiddle didn't really care. Before, she went after her pretty bad. Yesterday, they were face to face and they foraged around together, no problem. Great! One of the other girls still goes after her a bit and my recently injured is TERRIFIED of her. If she comes within 20ft, she takes off running and her eyes get real big and she is frantic. I don't get it.
Last night was the first time in 2 weeks that they all sat up on the roost together. No problems.
Should I just give her a couple more weeks to fully heal in her own little area? Or should I just let them hash it out?
