Recessive Color Genes in Guinea Fowl?

I have no idea how genetics work. It was never something I was able to remember in school.
I do have a pearl guinea hen with a white feather in her wing. My daughter named her Tiny since she is on the small side. I thought she’d molt and lose the white feather, but she’s just over a year old now and still has one. You can only see it when she opens her wings. I was able to snap this picture of her when she was heading inside for the night. View attachment 2206431
Pretty! Maybe they just got in their pearl wrong? Like when the genetics were switching the color from brown to pearl it accidentally just went full white on a couple feathers. My guinea has it on both wings, does yours too?

That wouldn't explain why some of my other guineas have some royal purple feathers on their chest and shoulders. I even made sure it wasn't the blue of their neck that I was seeing through normal feathers! There are patches of very clearly purple feathers. I can't manage a guinea to sit still long enough for it to show on camera though, they keep moving and making the picture blur to only brown feathers

The single or a few white wing feathers happen. My first Chocolate male has one on each wing. There is no evidence that it has anything to do with the pied (white) gene.

What about the royal purple then?
From what I have seen it is a natural part of a Pearl Gray guinea. Some Pearl Grays are darker than others because they have two DSV genes (Dark Shade Variance) instead of just one or none. Royal Purple is only Royal Purple because it is only partially dotted. If it was fully dotted it would be called Pearl Gray.

Mine only has it on the right side. I haven’t noticed any white feathers on any others either

Good to know! I just always figured it was a fluke thing. Lol

Thanks for the info! It was no big deal, I just got them from purely pearl parents so I was a tad confused lol. Whenever the sun hits a couple of the guineas just right, there are spots of feathers that look like pure, shiny purple
