Hi everyone,
Last week i hatched chicken eggs for the first time.(10 of 16)
I want to improve my incubator and change the temperature controller.
I used the stc-1000 temperature controller and i didn't like it..
the accuracy is too high- 1+- C degree.
Also, it can only be directed to 38\37 and not to 37.5 (99.5 F).

Can someone recommend on another temperature controller that can be ordered on ebay\amazon?

Thanx :)

This is one that I use. Control voltage is 12vdc.

I've used this one too, and it is convenient but after a few weeks it was off by several degrees. I was using 2, one in the incubator and one in the hatcher and if I hadn't had the first one I mentioned in the hatcher running a second heat source it could have been worse than it was.
They stand behind their product but for the price of it and having had problems with 2 of them, I can't take the chance on boiling or freezing any more rare eggs.

While I've always insisted on accuracy, I don't understand why you would want to change a controller that, in fact, is accurate to + or - 1 degree Celsius. You hatched 10 of 16 eggs which is actually pretty good, especially for the first time.
While I've never used this type of controller I wouldn't be afraid of using it based on your results. There are others that will get you the + or - 1/2 degree you want but the cost would be about 4 times as much & for 1/2 degree I'm not sure you would have better results.
You lost 6 chicks & I wouldn't like that either, but I would look at re-locating the fan to see if I couldn't get a better airflow within the incubator. The controller is obviously holding temperatures within the desired range so I'd look for other improvements I could make before I'd change controllers. JMO

I use the stc-1000 as well and I love it. Maybe you have a different one though, because mine can be set in increments of 0.1 degree celcius and set to have a fluctuation of as little as 0.3 degrees celcius. I have min set at 37.5c with a variance of 0.3c and it has been a real champ so far.
