So i have a chicken who survived a predator attack and i didnt think she would survive at first but now is actually healing up nicely she had to be treated for wry neck and ive had to help her start walking again. Other than a loss of balance when doing some things she is doing great. She even manages to escape her crate and wander around when im not looking. My only problem now is at night i will suddenly hear her flailing around like crazy and beating herself against her crate. I have to go in there and hold her n pet her to make it stop just standing her back up isnt enough i have to make sure to hold her, speak, and pet. It started like 2 night ago and the 1st night it was happening like every 30 minutes. Tonight it has only happened 3 times so its happening a lot less now. What could this possibly be i can not find anything like it online. I really dont want her hurting herself doing this and i want her to have a good nights sleep. Shes so happy and well during the day now i just dont understand what is going on.

I'm sorry to hear that she was injured.

It's good that she's recovering though.

Where is the crate, is it possible that a mouse or something can get in and is disturbing her?

Could she be having seizures? You mention she has some balance issues. Is she able to roost? If she's roosting, could she be falling of the roost and flailing about?

Is the room suddenly going dark on her or is light naturally fading where she is kept?

I'd try vitamin therapy to see if it helps with the balance. Give 400IU Vitamin E and 1/4tablet B-Complex daily along with a treat of egg which helps with the uptake of E.

Theres definitely no mouse she is in my room next to my bed. The lighting is natural from my window and no roost. The only time its a suddent change is when this happens i rush to turn on the light. She literally just had one and this time i noticed her legs were really tensed up. I thought seizures but i wasnt sure cuz it only happens at night and it happened so many times the 1st night but idk. If it is seizures idk what to do about it. Would they stop once she is fully recovered or would it continue like with humans? I saw 1 lady treated her hen that has seizures with childrens bennadryl.

The Children's Benadryl might be worth a try. Is it a liquid? Do you know how much to give?
Its liquid and she said 2ml so i might run up to the store and get it soon and start giving it to her at night since thats the only time it happens

This sounds like what sometimes happens to parrots. It's common enough that it's got a name - Night Terrors or Night Frights. Sorry I don't know any more about it, just the name, but you might could look that up to see what parrot people do. Something must have startled her, but it could be anything. In her case it seems like it could almost be compared to PTSD resulting from the attack.

You can try the Benadryl to see if it helps. I'd still try the vitamin therapy too, to offer supportive nerve care and leg health. Vitamin E is to help with neurological symptoms and the B Vitamins along with egg give added support to the E.

Be sure to check your Dosing of Benadryl.
