At least I guess it's odd! We're totally new to having pheasants - had these about three weeks now - two pair. They're about 18 months old. One hen occasionally makes an odd sound... doesn't sound like a cough and isn't a sneeze... A single odd sound... She doesn't appear distressed. Her eyes are fine. Her nose isn't running. They're fed Mazuri feed, some scratch, along with fresh fruits and veggies... occasional mealworms and crickets... I just don't know if this sound is normal? Any suggestions? I do think she opens her mouth to make this sound...

Does it kinda sound like a cat purring noise? This is not odd but a sign of content. We have three of our hens that come to the back door and make that noise when they want a pat. :)

No, I've heard the purring sound.. so that's not it... !!

Well, sometimes it almost sounds like a "cluck" or a "chuck"... just a single sound... I wish I could get it on video, but haven't been able to ...
