Is there a paint or sealant I can buy for the inside of my shed to protect it against red mite? I’m doubtful there is, but you never know. I’m going to be keeping a few quail in there and I’m trying to take every precaution I can regarding bio security, lice and mites etc etc.

I don't know what is available to you, but not long ago I had a mite infestation for the first time ever. I got some permethrin spray and sprayed all of my coops and gave the birds a spray when they were roosting. At first I thought the birds were molting but they didn't look right so upon inspection I saw the mites. Originally I sprayed the coops and nest boxes good, every crack and crevice, walls, floors, everywhere. Lately I have been spraying every 2 weeks. Haven't seen anymore mites. I have no idea how they got here. I hatch all of my own chicks. I haven't brought any new birds into my flocks.

Whitewash(made with a certain type of lime) can help...or so I've heard.
Painting and filling all the cracks and crevices with said paint can help remove perfect habitat for mites.

I have no idea how they got here.
Wild birds?

Mix some old motor oil with Permethrin and use the mixture to paint and seal all the joints, cracks, splits etc.

Below is a picture of red mites in their lair and it is easy to see how this painting the coop and roost will have a negative impact on your red mite population for years to come.
