Red Raised Area on Rooster’s Butt Below Vent

Hi. I did a complete flock butt feather check for dry clinging poop. Only a few hens needed to be hand cleaned. But when I checked the rooster I saw he had a red irritated looking patch of skin below his vent. The area around the feather follicles was raised a bit too.
I did not see any lice or mites or other crawling activity. The size of the area was about the size if you make an ok symbol with your thumb and forefinger, but oval shaped.
I’ll try to attach a picture.
What can be causing this? Thanks!

Looks like he's either growing in a few new feathers, or they have been broken off. I'd watch the flock and see if you see anyone plucking his feathers. You could try spraying it with bluekote to see if it helps.

Thank you for your thoughts. I never see the hens picking at him but they could be as I’m not out there 24/7.

I’m going to give him another check to see if his butt area has changed.

Did it get better? Did you figure out what it was? Sounds exactly what I have going with my rooster.
Doesn’t seem too concerning, but always better to act earlier rather than later.
Gonna take him in tomorrow evening for an Epsom salt bath & a closer look.

Did you figure out what it is. My rooster looks the same even larger area around the butt. Wondering if fungal?curious what worked for you.

It’s looking a bit better, but I haven’t done much of anything for it. I still don’t know what it is. Just gave him an Epsom salt bath. 🤷🏼‍♀️
All of my chickens are going into a molt right now though. (They’re just over 18 months old) So that might be a part of it. He is def losing feathers everywhere. Not just there. All of them are. But he’s the only one with that more red skin area.

One thing you might consider, if he has wet kinda white coming out of his rear, is the possibility of a yeast infection. I did put some Monistat 7 on/in (very shallow though) his vent after his epsom salt bath (only use the low medicine % cream on chickens). I did that as a precaution, because I had a hen with vent gleet & he mated with her. That was a while ago, but didn’t think it would hurt. He did have some crusty poops on the feathers around his vent, but nothing wet or gooey, like the yeast infection poop is.
Just a thought. It’s not as common for roos to have a yeast infections, from what I’ve read.
He had never had a bath, or all that extra magnesium before. So I think the epsom salt bath did him good. I kept it dark in the bathroom while he soaked. He didn’t fight it at all. Seemed to enjoy it a bit even.
