Red Ranger over CX

Could it happen? I have a Red Broiler and thinking abour getting a CX.
I have a chicken that has been broody for ever. Could just put the eggs under her and hopefully call it a day!
Or does it not work like that?

Or other breed you guys may recommend. Would appreciate suggestions a little more thorough answer than, " heavy breed".
