will breeding two red sex links create a another red sex link, or will it just be a mutt bird with normal laying capabilities?

I bred my rhode island red male with a white leghorn, and got a male and female from this batch, are they sex links? the female is white and the male is red and white.

red sex link x red sex link will not be sex link, but will usually still be exceptional layers. I believe a second generation red roo x white hen will give you sex link again. Not sure about the rir x leghorn.

I remember reading somewhere that leghorns will not make a sex link. Your results seem to go along with that. Red sex link pullets from a red male and white hen should be red.

Any first cross from white leghorn, with expected genotype, will not make a colour sex link. (Though a sex link could be made using rate of 'feather growth).

Red sex links can't become a new breed. As others have said, they are crosses.

In order to be called a breed the birds need to breed true for type & usually colour.

It is easy to make an autosexing breed, where the sex of the offspring can be discerned at hatch.
