Red stars still not laying

I have two red stars, they are about 21 weeks old and they haven't started laying. There combs are red, but they haven't started squatting. I thought red stars started laying earlier?

it is probably because of the reduced lighting. unless you put artificial lighting in the coop you might not get any eggs until spring. good luck though!

It's probable the reduced lite. try giving them some extra light in the am and this may get them going, but they may not be ready to lay yet.I have 4 cherry eggers and one of them didn't start till almost 24 weeks but is one of my best layers now.
If you decide to give them more light I have found it best to set the timer so it comes on around 4:30 in the morning but not at all in the evening. My girls get about 12 hours of light a day. This keep them laying but they still slow down and get a little bit of a break for the winter.
